                                   AMERICA'S SCORECARD
                CORPOCRACY FIVE, DEMOCRACY THREE

The first corpocracy was the Devil’s Marriage between King George and his chartered corporations. It was ended by the American Revolution. The second was during the Robber Baron’s era. Abe Lincoln said “Corporations have been enthroned---An era of corruption in high places will follow.” It did, but public outrage and Teddy Roosevelt busted this corpocracy. The third was during the Flapper Era. The Great Depression, WWII, and FDR ended it. The fourth was during the Cold War. The warfare industry and fear mongering politicians helped sustain it. The fifth, the current one, began in the 1970’s with a “corporate revolution," is the most powerful of the five corpocracies, and there is no end to it in sight.

DEMOCRACY AND AMERICANS ON THE ROPES
               WHAT THE CORPOCRACY HAS DONE

                            Shrinking Middle Class
                            Inferior Education
                            High Income Inequality
                            High Unemployment
High Incidence of Malnutrition and Hunger
                            Low Life Expectancy at Birth
                            Local Gangs and Mob Robberies
                            High Prison Population
                            Millions without Health Insurance
                            Endless Wars
                            Environmental Degradation
                            And Still More Harm

The corpocracy is extremely powerful and has powerful allies like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The corpocracy’s opposition is weak and divided. The only way to end the corpocracy is to unite its opposition. There are many NGOs, or nongovernmental organizations, opposed to the corpocracy, but they are not united in their efforts.

I have written a petition to be sent to these NGOs asking them to unite against the corpocracy. PLEASE CLICK HERE and  then go on to sign it and ask others to do the same. The sign up is provided by the reputable MoveOn.org Civic Action sponsors. By signing you agree to receive e-mail messages from the sponsor. However, you can unsubscribe from these messages at any time. As an alternative, you may sign the petition by sending me a message on my "contact me" form (see About and Contacting the Author section), to my blog spot, www.democracypowernow.blogspot.com, or   to Twitter @LibertyQuotient. Thank you!

                         -Another Quote from Abe Lincoln-

America will never be destroyed from
the outside. If we falter, and lose our
                      freedoms, it will be because
                      we destroy ourselves.

-Abe Lincoln on the Role of Government-
---"to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do at all, or can not so well do, for themselves-in their separate and individual capacities."

I have not researched what he may have meant by "community," but since he was president of the national community and certainly presided over a republic of states, which had within them smaller communities, I assume he was referring to each of the different levels of community. The question, then becomes, what is the appropriate community of concern for each level of government. For example, what can a national government do that a city, county, or state government can't do at all or well enough to-as it says in the Constitution’s preamble-“provide for the common welfare.” Since human beings have certain basic, common needs, it would seem that the national government's role should be commonplace and sufficient to ensure the common welfare in meeting those needs.

The common welfare in America, plenty of data indicate, is pathetic and worsening. It will continue to worsen as long as we allow ourselves to be governed by the corpocracy. It is among the worse forms of government anywhere ever.

Visit this site to read about double-fisted democracy power, the U.S. Chamber of Democracy, a proposed super coalition of NGOs fighting the corpocracy, plus the proposed Democracy Coalition, a super coalition of different segments of the populace, to support the USCD by applying political pressure on the corpocracy.
